hi Lindy
I am a new member and I see that you used to live in Wolverton Street where Wallace was supposed to have murdered his wife Julia. I am interested in the case from chess point of view I think it may have been Parry but I need to read the case notes and other pieces of info There is a article in Chess Notes that you may interested in.
Yours John Hamer
There is a article in Chess history website edited by Edward Winter that might interest you Its called Chess and the Wallace murder case I only found it this morning Yours John
I think the Johnsons may have some thing do with Julia's murder because they had clean clothes on A query did the Johnmson have access to the Wallaces house John![]()
They had clean clothes on probably because they were just on their way out for a few scoops when confronted by WHW who couldn't get in the back door but then suddenly could?
Tom Slemen and his mate supposedly reckon they have a confession from someone on their deathbed that it was the Johnsons. He could have got in as a known person by being let in by Julia as there was no sign of a break-in.
I still think it was Parry.
The money in the house Mark R is referring to would be the premiums collected on the round. WHW was ill the previous week and hadn't collected much.
