You're just showing off now Jack. When I go shopping, I go to Poundland.

Everything a pound, whether you need it or not.

I love the idea of Poundland. We have Dollar General and DollarTree in the States.

Good news for us, the dollar is worth about 58p right now. Excellent place to shop for candy, kitchen utensils, knick knacks, canned goods, and home pregnancy tests.

Just in Birkenhead temporarily. Normally I live in Connecticut, having a trial period with the better half, so who knows?

And how are you finding life,"over the water",as it's known on this side?!

Hey guys, thanks for your comments!

I've been here for two weeks now... settling in nicely. I like B'head, though I was out in Liverpool last Friday and whenever I mentioned where I'm staying, people tended to put their noses up, . I guess Birkenhead has a reputation. Anyways, I like it. I'm right near Hamilton Square and have been around on foot and on the trains quite a bit. I have lots of time to fill during the weekdays, so always looking for something new to do.

As of now, I'm planning on staying until the end of January. Depends on how long the lady can put up with me. So far so good. If the electrician comes to fix the stove (hob) this morning, I may get out to take a photo today!

yeah, it's a really nice area. Not sure what "Georgian" means, though I've heard the term quite a bit. Was that the style of architecture under one of the Kings George?

The town hall, incidentally, hosts a movie night once a week for the Birkenhead Cinema Club. Really nice place to take in a film. We saw "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" this past Tuesday. Next Thurs, they're showing a French film.
