My uncle (William Stanley), played for the Liverpool Trappers and I've been told by him that upon formation of the team, they had no badge/logo. My uncle Bill, asked my Dad to design a badge for the...
Does anyone have any info/pictures about Waverley house, 7 South Park Road, Kirkby. I believe the building is listed and was built by the Morrison? family. There are also 2 houses opposite on South...
How about Waverley House, 7 South Park Road, Kirkby. I was under the impression that it was listed, but can't find it in the list.
Page 31 of Gordon Suggits book 'Lost Railways of Merseyside & Greater Manchester' mentions that Waterloo Tunnel was worked by a stationary engine (but doesn't mention the location). There is also no...
I don't know if this will work.
The link below is a shot taken in 2009 from approximately where the letter 'W' of 'Water Tank' is on Marky's map. the shot is from the Google street map wotsit

Just had a mooch around on the way back home from town-didn't have the camera-but it doesn't look, to my eye, as if there is any different coloured brickwork, mortar, repointing, or anything to...
There's a photo taken in 1964 by A.Clayton on the Liverpool Exchange section of Nick Catfords Disused Stations site. It seems to have been taken from atop the building that was Littlewoods and looks...
Take a look at Nick Catfords 'Disused Stations site, and find Garston Dock station. The OS map he uses showing the station shows the link quite clearly.

Where did you get that map from, it's fantastic!
I didn't even realise there was a Farnworth station on the CLC, just before it crosses the St.Helens/Runcorn Gap line.
By the way, has...
I only noticed ths building today and I've not got a photo, but does anyone know anything about the building that now houses 'Scotts', in Tarleton Street. It looks like a 30's Art Deco picture house...

Are you sure you're not confusing the fact that Speke station is on Woodend Avenue, as I'm fairly certain there was no Woodside on the Runcorn Gap line.
excellent website, by the way,...
My apologies if this has been discussed before, but todays Guardian carried an article about the so-called 'Costa Metallica' at Langton Dock. Apparantly, this mountain of scrap metal has resulted in...
I'm sure there's a pillbox (or similar structure) in Maghull, where the railway line crosses the Leeds & Liverpool canal. I think it can be accessed by the road leading to Durrants cottages.
I don't know whether there is any info within another thread, but does anyone have any info or photos of the Stadium in Old Hall St. I know it was demolished in the 80's. My wife has discovered that...
Have a look at the 'unseen liverpool' thread, at post number 359 by Sirob. The pictures he posted of Liverpool Exchange Station show the David Lewis in the background.

Your second photo is the remaining bridge abutment for the high level coal line into Bramley-Moore Dock. The LOR went underneath this line in between Nelson Dock station & Sandon Dock...
Those 3 pictures of Exchange Station a page back. In the one with the Class 08 shunter, is the building in the background the David Lewis Hospital?
That was part of the reason for me asking. Logic told me that a tunnel opened in the 30's would be Kingsway, while one from the 70's would be Queensway. Thanks for digging the info up.
My apologies if this is a really idiotic thing to ask but, if Queensway was named after Queen Mary who opened it in 1934, then who is the 'King' in Kingsway from 1971? It's not named after the Duke...
Does anyone know anything or remember anything about a crash between a fire engine from Durning Road and a bus at the junction of Durning, Wavertree and Tunnel Roads on either 1st October 1972 or 2nd...
I thought the ice hockey team were called the Trappers?
That merseybasin site has an link on the left for 'information'. Click that and the first document link is called 'River Mersey 6 minute expert' That's the one your looking for
A website www.merseybasin.org.uk, has a PDF document on it stating that the river has a depth of up to 30m and a tidal range of 10m
Not sure I follow you. How do we miss Sandhills, Kirkdale and Orrell Park? I follow your comment about Aintree, but they will never be able to reinstate Central because a) the site has gone and b)...
