Years ago this used to be a great area, I remember what is nlow
the health club(closed) used to be an ice cream parlour.
This shot is on the corner of Toensend and Lower Breck.
The name was origionaly the Cockwell Inn, no seriously, but
they changed it for obvious reasons.
Who would have thought Townsend lane - once a thriving shopping area, would end up like this.
Here are some more pics to add to SteveB's -
1st 2 pics this is derelict land where shops used to be. (we call it the 'field of dreams !!') .. and notice 'Pizza Delight !!' (what a delight it is too !!) 3rd pic is where the Cobblers & Sayers was; the next pic is where Thompsons the wallpaper & paints shop was - it was recently opened as a newsagents but closed after just a couple of months. The last pic is of the block which had grocers and fruitshop.
