Large objects warehouse
Yes Rob, please keep us informed about that. I am surprised that the new museum will only increase the large objects on show to 6%. I should think they should open that large objects store up more regularly if it was practical to do so. Do the NMGL own the warehouse or rent it I wonder?

I went to the Prince's Dock years ago, and have always regretted not taking photos.
Does all the old transport (buses, etc.) survive?

Fire Engines Merseyside Fire Museum (these are now kept at rear of Waterloo Fire Station ) visits available.
The trams are at Wirral Transport Musum Birkenhead another good visit.
Most of the other stuff is at a THE secret location <grin>

The secret location they were in was the one where the had the only remaining 3rd class carriage from the overhead railway.

It was an enlargement of a six foot long fold-out engraving by T Sulman issued in 1865 by the Illustrated London News - there's an original one on sale here if you've got £300:

A reprint was included in one of the Scouse Press "Liverpool Packet" collections of maps and views that used to be sold in the museum shop in the 1980s.

they have one of those in the history building in Liverpool Uni, ive spent a little while looking at it hehe

only went in there once with my dad and I loved it. sadly didn't have a camera then.
took this in the 90's after it had closed.
would love to be able to see some of the exhibits again, hope they find somewhere for them.

I actually bought an old Kings Regiment booklet from Ebay last week, from the old museum.
What have they done to it now?! I'm sorry, but I think the new museum is terrible.
I loved the massive old doll house they had in the foyer, remember that?!

The mummies were always my favourite. Anyone remember that massive man on a horse or something? It used to scare the life out of me!!!!!
The transport section in the basement always fascinated me.
I always wanted to get on that old train in the middle!

The man on the horse - I think that was a Sudanese Warrior.
Remember the old street with the copper and the red button you pressed to hear live 'sounds' from the street? That was excellent...
