I do not the situation of the railroad in England. I like very much the trains. Before I was taking the French TVG, of Hendaye to Paris. In Spain and Mexico, the trains are being forgotten.

In Spain there is a new route, but it is extremely expensive. The train is called AVE. It crosses Seville, Madrid, Saragossa, Lleida and Barcelona, only. Also there are two trains of pleasure, they are ancient and nice, one in Cantabrian and different in Andalusia.

The rest of the lines are old, the trains also it are and cannot run. Added to that in Spain the track gauge is different from the rest of Europa, the people forget the train.



In England I only have taken a train. It was last month, to Liverpool to Manchester and to return. The train was comfortable, cheap and besides there were many schedules. My own opinion of British trains is that with the exception of London services, they are a disgrace - overcrowded, expensive, unreliable, slow and with a ridiculous number of different fares and rules. It takes the same time to travel from Liverpool to Manchester now as it did in the Victorian era, while it is no quicker than the car to get from Liverpool to other major cities such as Leeds and Birmingham. As for Newcastle and Glasgow - there arent even any direct trains from Liverpool. I come to my conclusions after travelling on trains in Germany, Switzerland Holland and Austria in the last few years.
