    Default Banks Rd

Banks Road. Miss Lacy was the headmistress. After Banks Rd School was bombed we had teachers come out and teach us for 2 to 3 hours per day at different homes in the neighbourhood. After almost 2 years of very little schooling most of us from Banks Rd where sent to Duncombe Rd school. I absolutely hated it, the headmistrees was a woman named Miss Baldwin, just seemed like she was not happy accepting all the extra kid's from Banks Rd, she was a little hard on us. Duncombe Rd School was an all-girl school, really missed Banks Rd.

I went to St Charles on Aigburth Road. We were in the annexe which was an old Victorian house called South Grange, which stood where St Charles parish club is now. The building was falling down around our ears and eventually we moved into what had been the Rivoli cinema next door. All the seats got cleared out and partitions were set up to divide it into classes. At playtime we went down into the basement where the snooker hall had been.

I went to Sudley Infants (Mrs Powell was head) and Juniors (Miss Underwood) then St Hilda's. (Mr Dawson then Mr Yates.)

My dad taught in Orrell and Christ Church in Bootle. He also coached the Bootle boys footy club. My mum taught at Toxteth, Dovedale and is now at St Pats.
