Hello
Does anyone know anything about the Edmondson's sweet factory, possibly in Wavertree or Toxteth circa 1900. My nan lost an arm in one of their machines and got £10 compensation. Would like to find out more. Thanks

Edmondson's was in Wavertree. My two Great Aunts worked there before, during and after WW2. Sometime around or after they retired in the 1960s the firm was bought out by Barker & Dobsons.
Yes. I think that the factory was started by my great-uncle Jonathan Edmondson, born in Barrowford near Colne in 1852. Also working with him were my grandfather Robert Simpson, and an uncle Richard Solomon. I think that there were two factories, one "Purity Brand Works" in Fox Street, and one "Toxteth Confectionary Works" in Wavertree. I would love to know more about its early days. Family hear-say is that the "Trebor" name was my grandfather's name spelt backwards.
Not much on this so far and this may be wide of the mark...
