i have a few bits of info :
before changing hands, the hire shop was called M + H Hire.
Before that i believe it was a tyre shop and before that i think it was a funeral directors.
there used to be a garage directly opposite hewden, and one of the men who worked in the garage told one of the stories that has been passed on down the years- that on the site of the current Hewden car park, a bomb hit during the war and there has been a slope there ever since, no matter how many times they have tarmacced over it!
yes i am sad but im just interested thats all

Great shots of the old cemetery. I misspent some of my youth hanging around the chapels of rest in here, smoking Menthol cigarettes with a pal of mine, when I was about 14 and going to Sefton Park Sec Mod down at Bagot Street.
Some of my relatives are laid to rest here also. Thanks for the memories!
Ooer, meant to give thanks to brother bunf, but pressed the post blogging button instead, hope it doesn't muck anything up.

As a Tunnel Roader, I too was born in Sefton General, and like yourself brother F, I and my chums spent time wandering the quiet paths of the cemetery whilst polluting our lungs, although the thought of despoiling any part of the place never, ever, entered our minds, not that we were averse to the usual high jinks, but there were limits.
