A very sad sight to see the Cabbage Hall like this.

Just having a little rant here, but it was always the 'better' pub of Anfield, and in days gone by was quite select. I remember when (apart from busy match days) the regular customers were older couples having a quiet drink, and the type that had their seats in the same place .. heaven forbid if you sat in anyones place !

It was the pub that your aunty and uncle went to, or your grandad with his pipe and newspaper.
It was the pub you'd take visitors to for a drink locally - the other local pubs being more 'rough around the edges' - the Cabbage was always a nice pub.
During the last few years it started to go.. shall we say a bit more down market - ie, the usual thing happened - which has happened all over Liverpool - that riff raff got in there and gradually started to ruin a nice pub.

I've seen it happen to so many places.
Anyway, to see the Cabbage Hall tinned up like this is unthinkable to Anfield residents. People have lived here for generations and it's never been known for that pub to be closed down.
Shame
