There was an Irwins in Mill St, and Tesco opened up - a double fronted shop. Large grocery shops were not heard of in those days, only department stores were large. Z Cars filmed a scene outside the Tesco. One scene where a man was running into the shop (robber) - each time they rehersed a local dog kept jumping in and barking. They left it in.

So a man ran into Tescos to rob it and the dog gave him away, jumping up and barking like hell - and he still manged to rob it.
