I always meant to put this photo on toxteth.net, but could never find it, so I settled for a more distant view.
It was always difficult to tell if the pub was open or not, and I used to walk the dog round that area most days.
Like other parts of Liverpool, this pub was left standing while the neighbourhood was rebuilt, and I loved this block.
But, unfortunately, it has now been demolished.
And I never did go inside.
What a shame, Philip, both that you weren't able to go inside and that the building has been demolished. From the architecture it looks as if it could have been an earlier nineteenth century building unlike some of the later Victorian pubs common in Toxteth and elsewhere in Liverpool.
