I am sorry, I didn't read all the messages.
What do you think of White Star Bar ( 2-4 Rainford Garden in Liverpool) and White Star Cafe (56 Regent Road in Kirkdale) please ?
Sorry, I don't speak very well english.

'When anyone asks me how I can best describe my experiences of nearly 40 years at sea, I merely say 'uneventful'. I have never been in an accident of any sort worth speaking about. I never saw a wreck and have never been wrecked, nor was I ever in any predicament that threatened to end in disaster of any sort.'

There was a pub at the bottom of Matthew St called the White Star.

Many pubs in Liverpool had nautical names. The Great Eastern, Alabama (named after the CCS Alabama), Baltic Fleet, etc, etc. No one took much notice of the names.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the

canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

The Blue Anchor in Melling, right by Aintree racecourse and once run by blues legend Ted Sagar was gutted in a suspected arson attack overnight/this morning.

The White Star is a great pub - good selection of real ales. I was last in there with Pablo, just after Christmas. A young Chinese girl came in selling DVDs and he bought a load. Well, she was pretty!

Ha, they disappeared for a while, looks like they're back now. It's one of me favourite pubs.

Yes, there's a picture of them in there and they've glazed over the wallpaper over their seats.

It's actually on Matthew St. That's were we started before ending up in the White Star.
