I love St. Luke's, a really beautiful and evocative building. It's great that it has this new lease of life and people are encouraged to visit it.



Do you remember there was a proposal, quite a few years back, to create a new 'inner ring road' that would have meant the demolition of the church, and doublessly much else besides? Can't remember the details but I do recall that people went mad at the idea...

Yep. The Shankland plan. The only section of the motorway to be built was the section along the The Strand/Dock Rd - it is dual-carriageway. It should be removed as it forms a large barrier between the city and the Albert Dock -the leftover of an ill-conceived plan. All this area should be pedestrianised.
