It's a great interchange though! I really liked being there but I am suprised that there isn't some kind of refreshment kiosk or even a drinks machine? It is going to be a major main line station after all!

come to think of it, I was expecting more buses to use it too. Maybe in the next few months more buses will use the facility.

GARSTON swimming baths has marked its 100th birthday with a pool party. (where exactly, the pools been knocked down)

The first foundation stone was laid 100 years ago on July 27, 1906.

To mark its historic birthday, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool was a guest of honour at the celebrations.

Guests enjoyed free swimming as part of the festivities and lucky swimmers received spot prizes, including sports gear, vouchers and kit bags, for being every 50th customer at the baths that day.

In addition, a treat for guests and swimmers who attended the baths was a special centenary swimming display performed by children and younger swimmers from Garston Swimming Club.

I do remember the old baths, I remember stories that they would put temporary flooring over the pool for dances, unsure if this is true or not.

I remember seeing dolphins at Garston Baths when I was a kid, its true I tell people this story and they don't believe me, there were three and they were on tour around the country, I think it was a linked into the flipper series on TV.

Every kid in Garston piled in to see those dolphins in Garston Baths - I was upstairs on the balconey. It must have been about 1969/70 cos I remember the trainer who sang "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" (a big hit at the time) and the dolphin "joined in" with little clicky noises and "danced" about on his tail!! Seems alll a bit cruel now really - I wonder if they caught a verucca like the rest of us?

And they did used to put flooring over the baths for dances - lots of the old folk will confirm that - many a budding romance started at the Baths dances
