When the Tatler in Church Street closed, in 1972, the other cinema in London Road (not the Odeon) was then called the Tatler, before becoming the Eros in 1979.
By that time Classic owned the Tatler name and use it for its X certificate cinemas.
.
Just found this, the "Tatler" in church st.
(courtesy of L.R.O.)
We would go there and we called it the Tatler, which makes me think it was called the Tatler at one time - either when I went as a little kid or before and the name stuck. I never ever went in the one in Church Street. Unless Tatler was used as a generic name for news/cartoon theaters in Liverpool - as Hoover is used for vacuum cleaners.

I remember the Jacey well.
PS Didn't it become some kind of chapel or something?
Ooops! - just noticed Ged answered that on page 1 - the holy shrine blessed sacrament.
I think Tatler was a countrywide chain I have just done a Google and many people refer to the Clayton Squ theatre as the Tatler as well. Which makes me think a news/cartoon theatre was always called a Tatler.

I've just spent so long replying that I was timed out and had to log on again only to find that my reply hasn't shown.
In a nutshell the Tatler in Church Street was the only Tatler (News Theatre) in Liverpool.
I'll give a more detailed reply tonight after I've made it a separate text file.

Same thing happened to me in my rant about wanting a Tescos in Anfield.
I got logged-out and my post didn't go on, so I had to type it all over again.
edit ... it just happened again in another thread ... you gotta' type quick or get logged-out !
I left the computer for a moment and nearly lost another post. I was on the ball this time and was quick enough to save it by copy & paste

Use the back button. This should bring the previous pages back, even the pages you wrote on. Firefox certainly is good for that.
Before hitting the key, save the ext to the clipboard (memory).
1. Put the cursor in the text
2. Type: Ctrl A - this highlights the text.
3. Type: Ctrl <insert> - this puts the text inside the clipboard.
You can then paste the text anywhere as it is in memory.
