Pubs of Liverpool and Merseyside

If this is true, and assuming most of them take a drink now and then, it puts paid to attaching any blame to the closure of pubs.

Actually this subject was spoken about on a Roger phillips phone-in recently. As I thought, a vast majority of any pubs you see currently closed down, were so a long time before July 07.

I didn't hear it myself, but Pete Price, who has been to Spain and Greece this year, said that he was astonished how the smoking ban is completly ignored there and the ashtrays are overflowing !

I did say a similar thing here on the forum - that the Spanish and the French just stick two fingers up to any bans. They don't give a sod !

I think the Brits are too soft and meekly do as they are told.
Not condoning the smoking habit - but commenting on how Brits differ in following the rules. In a kind of way, I admire the others for sticking two fingers up and not being told how to live their lives.

I think it's great news tho' that so many people have quit smoking since the ban - that can only be a good thing.

The Bank House pub, Windsor Street/Upper Warwick Street, Toxteth is getting demolished. The roof has already gone.

Bank House. As of yesterday, only the ground-floor remains. A few Toxteth pubs have gone this year.

Just back from nearly a month in France. Maybe it is different in the cities but didn't see anyone smoking where they shouldn't in the rural areas I was in.

Nice shots Gregs dad, there had been a planning application 1-2 years ago in to convert the Tramways into flats, dont know what came of it. the Kendal Castle and Leigh Arms must both have been shut a year or so now. Cant see the Blue house ever repoening, its death knell was when the police forced its shut down on matchdays after coaches were pelted with bottles after a game.

I used to live about 30 yards away from Black Georges, went to school just across the street too.
