Great photographs, Quincy. I am curious to know where that "1773" drainpipe is in Bootle.

Right. Okay, excellent. I was also curious about the bird on the drainpipe, about whether it is meant to be a Liver Bird, or whether it is a heraldic eagle, such as Lord Derby has on his crest. Do you know what the building used to be be originally?

not sure, but Lord Derby's hunting lodge is nearby.

Thanks, Quincy. Then I think I might be right. It is the Eagle and Child Crest of the Earls of Derby, as in this example from Castle Rushen on the Isle of Man. The hunting lodge is new to me as well. Where is that located precisely? Is it open to the public and how old is it?

    age..sorry haven't the faintest.

it's a private house from what I can see.

it's on Merton Rd by the roundabout. around the corner is the old tyre place on Hawthorne Rd. watch out for pink anorak woman though and her "who said you can take photos in this street etc etc." giz a mo and I'll put a wee map up.

sorry, still learning the ropes of this site. I'll have to remember to take a pen & paper so I can make a note if it's an area I don't know well. quite often I just spot summat and get off the bus, then quickly on the next one that turns up.

This one is Durning Rd, Edge Hill. Building is next to the Durning pub.
