Can anyone help me identify two stations photographed on the Exchange (Moorfields) to Southport line in the 1970s?
The first is at Bootle - believed to be taken 1974.
The second is another station north of there - believed to be taken 1977.
thanks,

The first one is New Strand, formerly Marsh Lane & Strand Road.
Not sure about the second.
Must look out for that bridge!
Hear here to Bootle Strand. The other one looks like Blundellsands & Crosby, which was one of our local ones- we were about halfway between here and Waterloo.

Thanks Guys.
New Strand sounds right and also Blundellsands & Crosby. The second was believed to be between Exchange and Waterloo.
If it helps, B & C is north of Waterloo, but I'd agree that the second pic is probably in that area.
I thought of Hall Road, but can't remember if there's a bridge there.
Obviously, when you're on a train and only passing through stations, you don't see much of the bridges.
there is a bridge at Hall Rd, I'm thinking more Hightown though. That looks similar to the bridge that was there before it was refurbished.

bore yourself silly at my Flickr page...anorak central!
I wondered if it might be Freshfield with the bridges and the leafy surroundings.

I grew up on Courtenay Rd, halfway between Waterloo and Blundellsands and Crosby stations. It's definitely NOT Blundellsands and Crosby, and it looks to me extremely like Hall Rd.
Largely because of how close the road is to the platform,..
Anyone certain?
OO can i disagree? The first i am sure is Bootle Oriel rd
1)You can see the Tax office now demolished in right background,
2)The block of flats at the strand in the right distance
3)The elec pylons were over the canal , the canal is before the strand station but they are in the background of the pic.
So all these items would not been seen from the Strand platform.
And im sure thats how Oriel rd looked ,
The second may be Hall rd?

Oops, sorry.
I saw The Triad and knew that could be seen from New Strand.
My excuse is the two stations are too close to each other!
Thanks Everyone for the help!
I am now pretty confident that the Bootle station was Oriel Road as I since found an identified photo of New Strand for the same date (which looks completely different). I have put both photos on my web site here:

As for the other unidentified station photo, its still inconclusive. I see there is a small signal box behind the footbridge and this might help identify the station, even if the bridge has been replaced.

Ron
I have now found a record for the second photo I recently posted which was a station between Exchange and Southport with a footbridge. It was photographed on the 4th of June 1977 and was taken at - FRESHFIELD.
I have also come across another photo on the same route and taken in 1971 or 1972. It is identified as Crosby but seems to be sidings and a possible depot without a station.
Does anyone know the exact location of this one?
