The Germans did use Dublin as a guide. DeValera put extra lights in Dublin too. The German bombers would take off from France and fly up the Irish Sea. Dublin lit up to the left and turn directly east and Liverpool, the main convoy port, directly ahead. Nice people eh.

The decoys on the Dee did work to an extent. Some bombs were dropped over there. Not many but they could have blown an ammunition ship...never know.
