I think that was one of Dave's little jokes.
I rested it on a BT thingy, but there are loads of other things to rest cameras on.
You have to make sure there are no Tripod Police about, though.

Good job you had somewhere to rest your camera on, otherwise that cracking shot of yours would never had happened. Tripod Police, Phil? I thought they were there to protect you

Using a tripod at night, when alone in a dark street doesn't seem a wise move to me.
Even taking photos in daylight leaves oneself open to muggers.
