Some pics on here in their 'before' state if I remember correctly Kev. It looks like they've opened a can o' worms.

I need to know more about Kirkby.
Work are relocating to Knowsley Industrial Park from Birkenhead and i know absolutely bugger all about the place.
Apart from the future tesco is there any decent shopping around there. More thinking about the likes of decent butchers etc rather than high street shops.
And is there anything on the industrial park or is it just a wasteland like all industrial estates?
Knowsley Industrial Park is located in the vicinity of the East Lancs Road around the junction of Boundary Road. Some of it nearly runs into Knowsley Village.

Apologies for the durge in updates!
Going over to see the new site tomorrow, so hopefully will see whats around, and might pop over one weekend day to see how easy the transport links aren't.
Went to Kirkby market last weekend, it was bustling. Took a drive around all the sub-districts of it including the main drag, Cherryfield Drive as seen here. The Carters Arms is on Glover Brow which with its continuation has five pubs on it and Kirkby railway station. They've done some of the heights on Roughwood Drive up nice and need to do something with the rest. I deal with companies on the industrial estate and Moorgate Road which is quite busy. There's a bit more about Kirkby's origins and all its pubs on my pubs page II - the site is below.
Hammond Road is where we're moving to. Site is in complete chaos. Supposed to have the factory side ready in less than 2 months.
They're currently ripping the insides out of two office blocks as they need to get one of them ready in time for the factory and the other by start of march latest.
served some of my time in kirkby, the town centre shops and market were known as the towny, the industrial estate was separate, out by yorkshire imperial metals, makro etc...it's ( was i don't know about now) a good town, we used to sneek into the council offices canteen at dinner time with false apprentice names to get a cheap 50p dinner then a swift half in the golden eagle before day release classes kicked off in the college, if we were feeling a bit flash we'd go to the derby arms in knowsley village.

Go and paddle your own canoe. A youngster using a bag of polystyrene bits as a canoe in Kirkby`s mill pond. I think it`s off a building site

Blimey - is that the Mill pond where the adventure playground used to be near Tower Hill?
Used to spend a lot of time there as a kid in the early 70's, and I can remember building all sorts of makeshift rafts and stuff, which never seemed to float. Always had a laugh though.
Hi GD,
I attended kirkby college for my day realase as an apprentice also did some training at the brick development association in kirkby, plus used the market every other weekend when i lived in england, great people/ community and still have some friends there , but penthouse proprty is not the way to go unless the repayments on the mortgage are in line with rent on the top floor of a block of flats in which case its a flat on a top flor, however its 20 years since ive been there so it may have changed, the golden eagle was the 'hot spot' in them days, and the chippy facing the market was really good. who in their right mind invests there, especially when the footy / tescos may be on the doorstep in a few years, big money around the world is spent on security and lifestyle, as much as it's loved , i can't see that being kirkby
