The last I heard it was in storage and was suppossed to be 'carted' out when the new L1 was opening.
I heard that the city were pleased to be shut of it when the 'landscaping' was done. It may not appear ever again!
Wouldn't surprise me if that's not already been done. Musta been heavy.
I saw a picture on Flickr a couple of months ago of this horse (which I can't find now). It showed the statue in the Council yard in Stanley (Newton Road).
Funny you should mention that - I was walking past Church Street the other day and wondered what had happened to it...On the subject of statues, does anybody know what has happened to the John & Cecil Moores statue(s)? They were outside Littlewoods on Church Street. Being an Everton fan & an expert on the city, I'm sure Ged will know![]()
It is Accomplished
That's true, another one that's gone. Is someone melting them down.
Aren't they in Old Hall Street by St Paul's and near to their old headquarters (The Plaza)?
BtW, that Iron Horse was a pig, if you know what I mean

Anyone heard anymore, about the fate of this gee gee?
I recieved this from LCC today:
"Thank you for your enquiry.
The scheme proposals for Church Street evolved around a theme which included representation of the ribbons of life and the horse sculpture was removed to make way for the new project. The new scheme included its own sculptural elements but unfortunately these never came to fruition. The horse is carefully stored in the depot at Newton Road and we are investigating an alternative site in the city centre for it."
Hope this helps![]()
