Please, I was born in Walton hospital "A Walton Bung baby" And I am proud to be a Scouser. But I get well miffed when people tag onto "Scouse" or are claimed as a scouser just because they are in the public eye and are not a true Scouser ! It's a "Birthright" to profess "I am a scouser" And this right should not be handed out Willy Nilly !!! Justice
So lets say yer Ma and Da are on holiday in Blackpool and she's not far off giving birth to you,she gets rushed to the nearest Maternity hospital in Blackpool and you pop out an hour later...does this mean your scouse or a lancky?

I thought Walton had shakey Scouse credentials, as it was only absorbed by Livepool's town boundaries in 1895. People born in Walton were known as Wausers to the real towers.

I too was born at Walton Hospital (as was Paul McCartney) I read somewhere that you cannot be more scouse if you were born in Walton.
Now, ive wrestled with this one. I was born in Liverpool in 1959 and lived in Orrel Park until I was 4. Then we moved to Widnes. So, am I a scouser or am I a Woolyback?

I trust that you North-Enders, in your bid to establish your credentials over the upstart Liverpool, recognise that there were various other ancient Bronze Age villages dotted around Merseyside that may even pre-date your cherished Walton. Thanks for the perspective Chris. I didn't appreciate the other parallel coming from the segregation of 'coloreds' back in the sixties.
There was something on BBC Radio 4 this morning about one of the Scottish ports receiving black American sailors back in the early 1960's. When on leave, they asked a surprised Scottish bar tender, 'where can we sit?' IOW's how is the bar segregated?
Amazing to think this was only 50 years ago.

Yes it is startling to think that segregation was only fifty years ago. When I arrived in Baltimore as a seven-year-old in January 1955, the city was segregated and they had such things as white-only or colored-only water fountains and swimming pools. Also as with the Rosa Parks protest in Alabama in December 1955 against the need for colored people to sit at the back of the bus, that was the case here in Maryland, that the non-whites had to sit at the back.
