Does anyone know how this would compare to the wages of a Scottish farm labourer or an equivalent job?

The average ANNUAL WAGE IN ENGLAND AND WALES........... appears that an Agricultural Labourer is £36 a year in 1861.
£5 seven weeks wages APPROXIMATELY.

That is true Ernie,
After 100 years later I was on £96 a year. EIGHT POUNDS a month.
I couldnt afford to pay to sail on those ships.
