No this tower's more slender you can see how wide it's going to be from that picture.

I live and work in Manchester, and have over the years suffered some very harsh criticism of my home city. This week I have directed 3 work mates to the Liverpool Passport Office, ( look for the big yellow box :celb (6): )and all 3 came back amazed at the ongoing changes. They like many who have not visited the city for a few years ,held the typical image of a dirty and derelict jungle. We still have a long way to go, 2008 will put in the spotlight, I know the people of this city will rise to the occasion , lets hope that the "city fathers" don`t let us down.
The Beetham West looks like it's going to be massive.
@Max, it will.
@Woody, lets hope those old negative opinions and stereotypes die out for ever. A postive post, thanks. So those fellas will take there observations back with them and spread the good word :) The Cesar Pelli building is certainly stunning.
Its an apartment Tower rising to 22 storeys to be built next to the underground car park access ramps on the Strand. This tower will form a gateway to Chavasse Park and contain 330 apartments, offices with restaurants facing ont the park. The architect is an Argentinian Cesar Pelli , this part of the Liverpool One scheme was submitted to the City Planning Dept, early June , and should get approval very soon.
It's looking good around night there.:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Would love to take pics from the top of it when it's done.
They should give opportunitys to do that like with the Cathedral.
Should be something other than accomidation though, thats what the other one is used for and theres tons of accomidation being built around there.
Would be great to see the Mersey from up there.
Thats the Unity though, not Beetham.
Think I'll get some radiation poisioning, then be cured and then end up being able to fly.:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Great Pic Dave.
Anybody have any idea how many floors this baby is rising each week?
Scouserdave, where is the 'ye olde graffiti ?'
1727.
is it on the rocks up on the Mersey View (Frodsham) ? There are some old inscriptions there.
Ignore that question ... I just seen the answer in another thread.
but has anyone seen the writing on the Mersey View rocks ? I've got a picture somewhere, I'll root it out.
Thats mad!! On my desk I have one of those postcards from the Rockefeller building - you know, with all the guys sitting on an iron girder. I wonder what todays HSE would make of that...
I was playing about with a panorama stitcher last night and came up with this, from about 6 pictures of the tower. I take no credit for the work, Autostitch did it all by itself...
My mum moved there 10 years ago and has wanted to move back ever since- too far out of town and the Runcorn bridge is a nightmare. The memorial is dedicated to all those from the town that dies in the 2 world wars.
Oh yeh, I remember what the memorial is for now you reminded me.
Frodsham is a nice little place. I havn't been there for ages tho'
I can believe it about the traffic at Runcorn bridge !
Yes,that's correct...'Mohawk' Tribe from New York State....They still use them on 'Skyscraper' erections.
Any pics of this tribe at work?
Already making quite an impression on the waterfront skyline:Colorz_Grey_PDT_16:

Excellent! I reckon the crane jib must be at about 400ft now, making it almost the tallest structure in the city.
