Interior view of St George Church, Everton. This was the country's first iron framed church built in 1813
Great pic' Taffy,
what was the other, similar build church,in Garston,I think?
This would be St Michael in the Hamlet, Toxteth Park. The Toxteth bit having been airbrushed out in recent years but it's still the official name of the Church. See

This is the shoreline behind the Wirral industrial site with a boat anchored offshore collecting or sending to something to the shore.
One of the buildings on Marmaduke Street, Edge Hill scheduled for demolition in the Edge Lane mass demolition project. Surely a sad loss of what is a sound building.

SS Peter and Paul`s church at New Brighton taken from the ferry, This has now closed down, hope they don`t demolish it as it`s been a landmark for sailors entering the Mersey and seen by Liverpool people from the pier head.
Nice one Joe. I believe I read somewhere that the Bishop of Shrewsbury is involved with this matter. I think he has refused permission to alter it.
Seems that following an appeal to the Vatican the decision by the Bishop of Shrewsbury to close it has now been declared null & void.
See report below:
Aug 13 2009 by Liam Murphy, Liverpool Echo
Vatican rules controversial Wirral church closure ?null and void?,
Worshippers at a Wirral church have won an historic ruling from the Vatican that a closure order was ?null and void". Ss Peter and Paul?s church in New Brighton ? known to many as the ?Dome of Home? because it is visible to sailors in Liverpool Bay ? was controversially shut by Catholic authorities in 2008 despite protests from its parishioners.
The Diocese of Shrewsbury had insisted the church was too expensive to operate and moved services to the Anglican All Saints ? a step which angered many worshippers.
A campaign group Soul (Save Our Unique Landmark) was set up to press the Diocese to retain the 1930s grade II listed building for worship.
Through specialist solicitors BBH based in Eastham they took their appeal to the Vatican?s Congregation for the Clergy ? and in a ruling believed to be historic for the church won their case.
Partner at BBH Solicitors, Anthony McKeever, said the Diocese of Shrewsbury ?lost in no uncertain terms?.
He said the response from the Congregation for the Clergy in the Vatican upheld their appeal against the decree by the Diocese of Shrewsbury to close the church.
Mr McKeever said that in August 2008, the diocesans solicitors, Hague & Lambert, wrote stating that ?our clients reiterate that they will be bound by the decision of the Congregation in Rome?.

Catalina flying boat over the Mersey today on its way to Southport Airshow.
Sometimes seen with wingtip floats
Lovely to see the old Catalina still flying! The 'Floats' are still there, they extend out from the wingtips when reqd for water landings, you can just see the struts and panel edges on the wings. Nice Pic thanks Joe,:PDT11 (I had a model of this plane when I was a youngster, some time ago!!!!)
Nice photos Joe. The station at Hamilton Square looks very modern considering is over 30 years old. It's a bit more seedy actually standing there.
