I had trouble recognising where that was. How did they get away with knocking that down and replacing it with drab concrete?

St John's Is a crappy looking shopping centre though.
That pic looks like the late Brian Saville's pic.

That first picture is my wallpaper in work, at home, even on my mobile!! There is so much atmosphere to it, you can imagine being there at the time. I wish I had been alive back in the Sixties to see stuff like this, definately the decade i'd have loved to have been about in.
This truly is one of the best photos I have EVER seen, of anything! When was all this destroyed for that ugly-arse shopping centre?
Are there ANY MORE pictures like this out there??

The 60's era was great
Liverpool was buzzing then. I can distinctly remember the feeling of excitement and anticipation. Mind you, I was growing up then, so I suppose life in general would be exciting ! but there was a unique feeling to that decade. Something new happening all the time; music, art, fashion, a new way to shop ie; clothing boutiques first came to L'pool, fashion really took off. Clubs were great places in those days and Liverpool was the place to be.
