Sad news, truly one of Liverpool's greatest boxers of all time.
I saw him fight several times and got to meet him after he'd retired and was managing the Noah's Ark in Speke.
I was only talking to Johnny Cooke about him in the Carnarvon Castle just a couple of weeks ago.
A true Liverpool legend.
A small belief can mean you'll never walk alone
yeah grt man ,now gone, lets put him in the scouse hall of fame
I second that, been meaning to contact Jamie Carraghers Sports Cafe for ages to get him up on the wall with the other Liverpool Sporting greats.

Sad news - but few pass who are remembered with such universal fondness.
I gave him a lift home one night when I was in my official capacity! I saw Alan walking along Vauxhall Road the worse for wear a bit so I took him home when he lived somewhere around Boundary Street.
Thank you all for your kind words.
Alan Rudkin Jnr
