It really is cleaner, the water treatment works is around that area! Dont let the mud put you off! I was in Otterspool, and up by the Runcorn bridge, this week, and in both spots, the river looked fine, compared to the oily, smelly, one, I remember as a kid!(when health & safety didn't exist.)

Dolphins and seals are seen in the Mersey. The colour looks brown because of the suspended sand in the fast running water.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
how it once was?

I've always wanted to see Runcorn bridge , I guess my ambitions are ridiculously low
I don't know how old you are but I doubt they would let you swim there now.
Dolphins and seals?! I think I might explode with excitement as i've never seen such animals. I was in Crosby last year and saw some stones in a (man made maybe) lake. It meant a lot to me.
The Mersey changes colour frequently with it`s fast flowing tides, likewise it`s inhabitants. A fish that was very really caught in it was rays but are now being caught which is supposed to be a sign that the water is cleaner

I was sailing back from the Isle of Mann on Sunday just gone. There was a seal following our boat into the river until mounts bay motored past. I've seen porpoise and seals as far down as Otterspool. However i haven't been further than that in the boat as we don't race any further up river on account of needing to get back before the tide pushes too hard.
Looks great the Pier Head lately,Mann Island.

Went past it on Thursday - it's terribly dark on a dull day and doesn't give any light towards the 3 graces.
