I worked in the college overlooking these houses and could see them falling down on a daily basis. The car park was to the side of the buildings, and some of the walls from the houses already knocked down were in evidence (old fireplace holes). I knew the houses had an order on them, but thought that the council would just leave them to rot. I was really pleased when they were sold off to a developer and restored, which would have been about 5/6 years ago.

I hope they now do the same with the other block lower down.
There are some fantastic pre war pics of Duke Street from the LRO on this page too where you'll see that restored block how it looked during WWII.
