Here's a few pics of the oldest house in L9. It is the only house along the lane which has been kept to it's original design.
The owner said that he thinks it started off as a doctors house for Fazakerley hospital patients.

Nice one Zap, good photos too.
Thomas Parr's House [complete with warehouse in the yard behind], Seel Street c.1799
According to James Stonehouse, writing in 1869 in The Streets of Liverpool: [Thomas] "Parr, used to boast that he had the handsomest house, wife, and horse, in Liverpool."

So there's no older houses in Fazakerley ? Are there any older ones in Aintree.
How about "the oldest in Norris green" ?

Well perserved... why do you think they" bricked up" the windows?
Would like to see that old school house Johnny Robbo.. 1600's wow.. bet there are some spirits lurking in those places...
NL, there are lots of older houses around Liverpool with bricked up windows. There are some around Anfield where I live, will take a photie next time I'm out. Not sure what it was about, but used to hear the older generation tell us that it was to do with a window tax or something.
Sounds pretty bizarre windows being taxed
It's utterly true and very strange.

Childwall Abbey Pub gives an excellent example of this with the 4 'painted on' windows to the right.
Thanks for info Cad
I just looked again ... painted on windows I never realised this before !! Amazing.
