Nice one George. The damage was incredable. Is the second one in front of the Albert Dock?

Great site Spike. In one of your photos, there are some ordnance disposal guys in gas suits. What was the reason for that?

Probably a gas main had burst near the scene and they had to deal with the woman first as a priority?

Wouldn't the biggest risk with coal gas have been fire George. In that case they woulda used sprinklers surely. I don't think them masks worked with coal gas. Coal gas used to displace the air, so there was no air to filter out. I dunno, just not seen that before.

Yes, but that displaces the air, leaving nowt to filter out. You'd need Breathing aparatus. Never seen them disarming a bomb with that gear on before.

But they're not disarming a bomb, they have lifted a woman that was trapped in the debris...funny that pic it looks like a dummy of a woman.

The more I look at that pic the more I'm thinking its too advanced for 1940's ie the stretcher is not right, this is a manaquin and the garb they're wearing similair to nuclear fallout army wear of the 60's
