Brill comparison Joe. One looking North and one looking South with original road widths still intact as there's quite a few around now that are not.

I know this is a long shot, but is there anyone out there who might have a picture of Cawdor st, Liverpool 8.
Say from the sixties or seventies. Before I finish, Kingsley rd flats which were opposite Cawdor st.

Interesting that Blacklers is where BHS is now, hope that's not market stalls in Lord St (on the right of the picture)thought the council were getting rid of them after they ruined Church St for years. Market stalls belong in markets not as permanent fixtures on the main street. I am sure there is spare land just around the corner that they could pitch their stalls on, or that the traders pay the same rent and rates that the shops are paying.

The trams may now be considered "green" and trendy, but you have to admit all of those overhead wires and poles do look ugly...

    Thanks for the pics.

At first I thought those might have been planes in the 1949 photo but soon realised they are part of the overhead wires needed for the trams. Good work, Joe.

Thanks, Joe. I bought a second-hand Pentax from a shop on Manchester Street in 1967. Interesting to observe that the bobby on point duty seems to be supporting himself with a cane.
