This is a great idea for a thread!

I've noticed that the newer ones are being installed everywhere, which means the old ones will soon vanish.

I did a quick forum search thinking there must be a thread for street signs, but couldn't find one.
I've seen a few interesting ones over the years, when I didn't have a camera with me. Must have a wander about before they start getting replaced.

Places like Blundellsansds are great as there are loads of Victorian/Edwardian streets that have barely changed. so there must be more of those stone ones up there somewhere

I remember in L8 the street signs being painted in yellows, reds and greens in conjunction with the Rastafari movement - they looked great!

a guy called Leroy Cooper did them. there's a bit about him online, but sadly no pics of the signs.

didn't the council clean or replace them after the riots?

We have a group on Flickr dedicated to streetname-plates and associated street furniture on Merseyside here . It's doing quite well at the moment!

I had a look it's a fab site, especially the post boxes. I've been taking pics of post boxes since I got my new camera last year. always had a fascination as there was one in our street as a kid. trying to get a full set of monarchs. I've got VR ones, but I love those of the very early Victorian ones. They are stunning. Never seen one up close meself. There's one stated as being in Lpool, anyone know where? Toxteth maybe?

anyway back to signs, this is round the corner from me...it's seen better days. sadly stolen cars keep getting fired under it as it's below a railway bridge.

Quincy; I think theres a VR Postbox round the corner from me...I will check it out en-route to college tomorrow!

Thanks all for the general comments about the Flickr Pool; I wasn't all that sure how much of a success it would be, but we seem to be doing quite well! Many thanks for all contributions!
