I worked at the original cavern club as assistant back stage & business partner to Bob Wooler.
I put many a face on stage and quite honestly can't remember many. However, two infamous, and melodic characters stick in my mind some 46/47 years later.
The most memorable are, Long John Baldry and Mose Allison.
Both great Whiskey drinkers and both memorable for that fact alone.
Long John slept on the office floor all afternoon, before his set, the whole of the office was taken up with John sleeping and snoring with a bottly of whiskey on his chest and his set, that evening, was amazing.

Mose Allison made the old upright, out of tune, piano to the right & back of the stage jump with melodic riffs of amazing clarity as he sipped his flat bottle of whiskey by taking it out, occasionally, of his old mackintosh coat with a 'sure' microphone leaning on his right arm.
What memories! what music!
Thanks for the opportunity to share memories of the old original and criminally demolished cavern club with you. George Roberts.
