Telegraph travel article - and Sefton park Q.
This posted article seems pretty reasonable as a very brief view of Liverpool and area.
They missed a lot out...... but it does start off with a really nice picture of Southport Pier.

It mentions Sefton Park, and my mother said she went there yesterday for a coffee at the new cafe - on the lake where the boat house used to be. She also said the lake area had been cleaned up.
Anyone have any pics of the new work?
The new cafe at the boat house end...the new aviary area... a couple of the fountains in the lake.
I'd like to see them put the railings back.
I wonder whether that would be a good idea or not these days?

I don't remember railings in the 60's - we could go right to the waters edge to launch our little wooden yachts, hoping they would make it to the other side if the sails were set right - no radio control back then...Originally Posted by dazza

There were no railings around the edge of the lake! and the railings bordering the pathways on the northern side of the lake, and around the Lark Lane side of the park, were still there in the sixties.
Ahh... that makes sense....
Removed for the war effort was before my time... my dad met my mum while he was in Italy after fighting the war...
