The Strand. It can be diverted around the city centre to the east. Queens Dr, around Edge Lane, W'tree Rd, etc. No need for traffic to run along Riverside Drive at all. Or just let it jam and they will use Merseyrail. The city has been ruined to accommodate cars. It has to stop and the city given back to the people to have a higher quality of life.

You do not run virtually a motorway through a city centres, especially next to a World Heritage Site.

While I agree The Strand itself is a joke with the amount of traffic on it (can be hell to get out of the bus station due to the silly amount of traffic lights) noone will be forced onto a Merseyrail system that at least on the Hunts Cross - Southport line is always jam packed because they only run three car services due to lack of extra trains. Merseytravel should have forgot about the tram idea and all that money that was wasted could've been put towards improving the rail system which is seemingly left to deal with all sorts of problems.
