I rather like the new look. We have to get to used to the idea that we'll never have the likes of the buildings again that were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Most of these were private companies making a statements, a pride in their HQ.

This canal link is a mill town development, not fitting in one of the world's largest deep water ports.
Nice to have it, however they butchered the deep water capability to make the place like Manchester or Sheffield.

Okay, but I think they could have done more to make the new buildings either consistent or in keeping with the existing buildings, instead of putting up buildings that are garishly different from what was there already. I suppose if the new museum is a tourist draw, that is to the good. And one good thing to say, at least the new buildings are low, not tall like the projected and defeated "Fourth Grace" Cloud would have been and that would have been a definite abomination (in my view) next to the established Three Graces.

We went down to the Pier Head last weekend, it's the first time I have been down there for about 12 months.
I really like the look of the new buildings and canal layout etc. They do seem to blend in although they are more contemporary and so they should be we are in the twenty first century after all.
Sometimes it takes time to get used to change, give it time.

I do agree that some of the Old Dock should have been open, and accessible. However it looks like we ge to see a small portion, and pay for the priveledge. That is a bit of a boo boo.
People seem to forget that there was an ugly old red brick nursing home and car park on the site of the new Liverpool museum.
I don't recall anyone kicking up a fuss about those monstrosities.
And the Liver Building was slated at first and I don't mean the roof.

I remember it being knocked down sometime in the 1980's, can't say for certain.
