The refurbished Queens, now to be known as "The Stables" is due to open 16th December 2008 according to it's, currently one page, website.

Spoke yesterday to somebody who had managed to get in for a look around last week. They doubted it would be ready for the 16th, but said that the refurb looked like a first class job and were very impressed. They reckon that a vast amount of money has been spent on it.

Let's hope it is a success. This is what is said in the November edition of Merseyale available in PDF in a link from that link. Not to sure about the Great Garston Revival, all I see is empty apartment blocks!! But there you go.

Real Ale Returns in the Great Garston Revival
"The former Queens pub in the centre of Garston has been acquired by Jonathan Santer and will be revamped and reopened in November. This is very much part of the Great Garston Revival which is seeing new housing built and an initiative to make the St Mary?s Road area an artistic and cultural
village. With new people moving into the area and with development of nearby business parks, Jonathan believes there is a great opportunity to establish a quality pub offering real food and real beer. The Queens
has a prominent position at the very centre of Garston. Real ale had disappeared from Garston when the last real ale pub the Dealers Arms, a former Higson?s pub, dropped its cask Cains Bitter. Garston was once an active real ale area with several pubs offering cask, so the Queens will be re establishing a real ale tradition. Give it your support!"
