    Ah, Merseywail, so nice to wallow in the past. Especially Kirkby Station with the Aintree Loco water softening plant in the background! I used to travel on the Wigan line, when it was a proper railway!

    Some postcards;
    Toxteth Tabernacle, rear dated 1907, E & J Wilson, Liverpool.
    Princes Park, same date, Valentines series.
    Southport Lord Street, Bamforth &Co. Ltd.
    Southport Promenade, as above.
    Southport Lakeside Railway, Photochrome Co Ltd.

    Often, portrait pics have fascinating backgrounds,

    The bowling green and Walton Park Gardens flats, pre flyover, 1962
    Bedford Road, Walton, towards the church, 1970

    thank you. was going to try and get the old tunnel over the wall but wasn't sure how I was going to do it. I go past there regularly to my doctors and was wondering how the line ran from the back of Marsh Lane police station to there with the canal.
    I've noticed what I call 'railway bricks' (they have a distinctive colour to them) not far from there on Hawthorne Rd by the old car place (between Marsh Lane/Linacre Lane). I'm assuming there was a railway bridge that went over Hawthorne?
    I'm still after seeing the old bridge to the sidings that went over Rathbone Rd by Pigue Lane. I remember it as a kid.

    bore yourself silly at my Flickr page...anorak central!
