Merseywail - thanks for the photos. That one of the cat ... I'm sure my aunty & cousins will remember that cat because they live very near to that station and have used it for decades. My uncle was a train driver on that line.

arr no! please dont stop posting these rare photos they need to be shared with the world so we can remember liverpools railway history the only problem i have had with copyrights is if i use photos of someone who is trying to make money and i steel there thunder if you get me as for this forum its great so i never want to loose it so i dont post photos here i use internet storage to direct them there instead of putting photos here.

if someone does ask me to remove photos because i have not copyrighted it i will but i hardly think the law will be brought into it otherwise can you imaging how many cases of this there would be if you dont know the refrence just make it up say its from liverpool libery archive but i do try to refrence photos that i know whos it is and i have asked many people if i can share there photos from my site.

To ell with it. here's some from my postcard collection, all source unknown. should be no problem with these, no details or dates: Waterloo c1900,s no shortage of adverts back then. Bankfield gds c1930,s? Ainsdale c1900', with two of the L&Y electrics. Ainsdale again, with the through Southport to London train c1900's. And last Crossens on the Southport to Preston line.

Entry, between Bedford Road/Bellamy Road, 1943 (Interesting because it shows the radio aerial poles in the yards-you needed about 50 foot of wire and an earth spike to get reception!!!! Also the bins let into the walls-the binman had a handle to lift them out, put one on his back and take it to the dustcart!!!!)

Thanks, Attention to detail is important, so the minor facets of life in the streets are not forgotten. I grew up with all this and coal fires too!!!!

we had one when I was toddler. toast on a toasting fork in front of the fire..happy days.

not forgetting the rag and bone man with his hand cart going up and down the entries.

I actually saw a coal wagon a few weeks back. brought back some memories that did.

We have a logburner fireplace, it is free standing with a flat top, last winter we had a powercut, we were in the middle of cooking a pan of scouse, we placed the pan on the fireplace and stoked the fire up, it finished the job perfectly, nice eating a bowl of scouse in front of a roaring fire

Love the Waterloo Station picture. I used to stand there in the 70s waiting for the train to college in Southport. All looks much the same.
