    My dad who was in the Royal Navy during the war had a pair of shaking hands like that as a tattoo on his arm, and an anchor on the other arm. He called it 'hands across the sea' (or that was the official title of it, I don't know) in commemoration of the U.S.A. being our allies.

    I could see the sign from the back yard of my previous house many years ago. They've built on the wasteground now so it isn't visible from there anymore.

    I tried to take a pic of that a few weeks back but the sun was too strong.
