As the poor Bedford, part of my childhood, goes to the cinema index in the sky, I feel it in keeping to provide a requiem for another great building. "you take them for granted, until one day they're gone!"

Its a fine June Sunday morning in 1971. In the middle of Liverpool it's the end of an era for a once proud Central Station. The previous night, British Rail closed it, except for a temporary booking hut on Platform 4 for the Gateacre line, until that could be closed too.
The empty forecourt, wood panelled booking hall still advertising places to travel to, - but not from here! A once bustling concourse now only echoes to the detritus from the previous day blowing about. The only waiting here now is for the wreckers ball, which came on the 19 th July.
