Default Lazy Days on and around the Wirral.

Loads of Photos since its been a great week or so for weather. Some Liverpool shots here, But taken no further than actually on The Mersey, so I think they just about count!!

    Lazy days fishing:

    Even Lazier days watching....

    Ferry, cross the mersey....

Woodside Ferry terminal. I believe thats Stanlow, Way off in the background...

    Lovely shot of the Cathedral.

Finally! They stuck Liverpool on a boat and they're taking it away!!

The famous One O'Clock Gun. Fired this towards Liverpool every Day at 1pm. Missed every bloody time!!

Yet another Liverpool over the Mersey shot....

The Echo Arena, taken from the Ferry.

Wallasey Town Hall, from the Ferry (Me and the missus were married here..... Incidentally, this building was actually built the wrong way round in error. This should actually have been the front!

USS Empire State, again, taken from the Ferry.

Views of Birkenhead & Liverpool from way up on Spooky Bidston Hill, Wirral

Bidston Observatory. Used to be the timekeeper from which they set the time to fire the one o'clock gun... So the sign by the Urban Farm says.

    Tam O'Shantys Urban Farm, Bidston.

Leasowe coast, in last weeks Gales.

    Finally (phew!) Seacombe Ferry Terminal.

OK One last photo. I included this poignant pic because of the Irony. It may look like nothing, but until 6 Months ago, the last surviving U-Boat in the UK was situated here, next to the East/West Float. Now its being overgrown with Poppies. A truly sad statement.

Great views! Shows the Wirral off well! If ever you want somewhere different to get some Liverpool views from, try the top of Argyle Street or New Ferry.

It is good to see some views from Eastern Wirral too!

    Thanks.

Wallasey, I think I know where you mean and did go that way a few weeks back. Don't think they turned out too well. I'll dig them out.

Do remember on the ferry asking someone jokingly to move away with his giant camera because he made me feel inadequate with my Fuji!!

Heres one from a couple of weeks back at Egremont...

OK, I'm struggling a little with low light/night shots. I have a Fujipix S5700 Camera. I know the colour can be pale with this, but I do try to help the worst ones out a little...

I can alter ISO, Shutter Speeds and Aperture.

    ISO up to 1600.

    Speed up to 1000

Aperture goes from 3.5 to 6.8 then up to 13.5.

Also has finepix settings color and Chrome. Whats the difference?

Anyone help me try to figure What sort of settings are best for a low light/Night shot based on those settings?

    OK Heres todays walkabout.....

Thursaston - Wirrals answer to the Devon coast! High Cliffs, views and a beach!

You really think I READ signs?

Follow this path to certain doom from a cliff!

...But the view is worth it!

Mrs Corky thanked me several times for these steps down to the beach....Especially on the way UP!

I love this tree, half way down the steps!

    Shore House, on the beach

    Those Cliffs....

Connors Quay, Queensferry (Wales). Views from a good few miles away from Thursaston and Parkgate... This Power Station (as well as Stanlow and a couple others) forms part of a OMD/Peter Saville Music and Video Installation at FACT in November...

    And Queensferry Bridge...

Parkgate. Great Fudge & Ice Creams here!!

A Battleship recieving repairs in Wallasey Docks. Took a lot of risks taking this, and a lot of persuasion from security!! We did a runner when we heard Sirens!!
The Last shot was taken from Wallasey Rowing Club...

Which way grandad ?.They are replacing the old signposts on the New Brighton to Seacombe prom but they haven`t removed some old ones yet.
The old one had one of its arms moved a few years ago showing Seacombe ferry terminus across the water.

Max: The house is at Thurstaston Shore (between Cadly/West Kirby and Heswall)

As far as Parkgate is concerned...the 487 goes to Neston/Parkgate depending on the time...if it drops you off in Neston, Parkgate is a mile down a hill. I would suggest you buy a Arriva North West Day ticket at £3.70 (your Liverpool Zone doesn't extend over the water sadly!)

Neston does have a station, but the trains are infrequent and you would have to change in Bidston. The bus is every 30 mins from Castle/Sir Thomas Street and runs through Tranmere, Bebington and Thornton Hough Village.

Hope this is of some use!

EDIT: If your after Thurstaston, Get the 71 Operated by First Wirral to Irby and then you will have a good walk to the shore.
