Also is it possible to now go inside the Royal Liver Buildings other than on business....something else hubby wants to do.....I have only ever been in the basement bit which used to be a nightclub in the late 70's

    Hiya

At the moment there is a free public exhibition on in the Liver Buildings atrium - so this is a way of getting you and your hubby in. Unfortunately you can only get into the exhibition but this allows you to see the atrium!

The exhibition isn't spectacular (personal opinion) but has got some good photos.

Exhibition runs until 4th July and details can be found here

Here's the thread with the Liverbird pics.

I recently bought that Liverbird book for a fiver, from St Johns Market (ground floor). I already knew almost all of the external Liverbirds, but it did have a few indoor ones that I hadn't seen before.

    Where are you located Maggie?

Here's a shot of the Liver Building from Water Street that I took when I was home last May.

Thanks, Maggie. A bit like my best mate Geoff, of Worcester and (presently) Portsmouth, who drives up to Liverpool to see his aged Mum.

Check out the following striking view of the Liver Building and Tower Buildings, the same two structures featured in the above photo of mine, as photographed by our talented forum member, Pete Carr:

For the last couple of years there have been "open" days, for many historic buildings/sites in Liverpool, including the Liver buildings. I think it's usually around July/August,but if you give the tourist office a ring, they could confirm this.

Thanks all so much for the pics and helpful advice....I need to make a plan now to try and see as much of the city centre as we can while we are there...my hubby is SAfrican so he is finding it all very interesting....and I am keen to show him the most interesting bits.....we did the Anglican cathedral last time which he was totally amazed by......
