    Default T & J Harrison's mystery ship

Hello everyone this is my first post and I am a little unsure as to what I am doing. Please be gentle with me! My interest is in researching the histories of ships built in Barrow-in-Furness just up the coast from the Mersey. One of the puzzling things I have encountered is mention of a ship (unknown type)called "Commander" launched 27 September 1877 for owners T & J Harrison of Liverpool. I can find no trace at all on the Internet of this ship or any mention whatsoever of her in connection with T&J Harrison. None of the books published about the Harrisons of Liverpool mentions "Commander" either. Am I following a "red herring" or what?

The Commander, of 1877 was wrecked on June 15, 1884 at San Antonio, Brazil.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

    Hello gdadwatts

Of course not everything is on the Internet but can be found in archives or contemporary newspaper reports, etc. However, a brief Internet search that I have just made came up with the following:

Thos. & Jas. Harrison on "The Ships List" -- shows that the Commander, a steam ship of 1,580 tons, was launched in 1877 and wrecked off Brazil in 1884 (as Waterways told you).

Board of Trade "Wreck Report for 'Commander' 1884" (pdf) from PortCities Southampton.
