1955? The Brunswick grain silo is still being built - so 1935. Not one ship is in sight either. Strange sight in those days. What wonderful aromatic smells came from that place!!

As for the smells, I often used to pedal down the Dock Road into Town from Crosby as a kid and well remember the evocative pongs along there. For some reason, whenever I smell dog biscuits, it takes me right back there. That would have been Spiller's I suppose...
