Had many a good night in the big house. After hours there'd often be a couple of beat coppers in having a quick pint with one ear on their radio. If they had to answer a call we'd have to turn the music down quickly so it wouldn't give away where they were!

Big House, mid to late 80's. Disco going on in the back room but refused admittance because there was a "no jeans" rule. Simple answer, so it seemd at the time, was to go to the toilet and remove the offending items. Still didn't get in.

Coincidentally, when my dad had the Big House which was 73-76 we had a house in Upton.

Gosh, that means it must be 35 years since I've been in there.
Spooky isn't it. 73-76 I was just a young kid growing up on Canny Farm and the only Upton I knew of was where West Ham played.

So saddened by the news today, too young to remember Alan in his fighting days but also have the photo of Alan and Rocky Marciano in my office signed on the reverse at home among others, was only watching the fights on youtube last weekend. R.I.P. Alan you so deserve your place in the Echos top 800 Liverpudlians.
Very sad. Alan Rudkin was a great scouser and will be sorely missed.
