Yes and Mandy, that church pic you posted up from Frank Lehnan's book. Wendy's is almost opposite I think it may even be in that pic (near the Thistle pub) which is now May Duncan's.
2 of my step-daughters live there and were asking about what it used to be like . Found this website about the area. Loads of pics...Enjoy

Liver Buildings from Princes Dock Loco Shed. This straight track was used as a test for repaired engines. The loco in the distance was being test steamed after being restored privately. May 1971
